"Match Play"
Match play, match play
It's so fun
Tie him up or
watch him run
Match play, match play
what a delight
A wonderful way
to spend the night
Matches throughout the
back country
Pick a boy and strike
a few three
Beat him till he's
black and green
Burn his bones and
pitch them in the sea
Match play, match play
It's so fun
Tie him up or
watch him run
Match play, match play
what a delight
A wonderful way
to spend the night
A wonderful way

How interesting! A dark tale told in such a catchy, sing-song way. The almost cheerful nature of the rhyme and short lines makes the content even creepier, I think.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was very unique, and interesting in a sort of creepy way. I also liked the repetition of the last two stanzas at the end. It reminds me of how some nursery rhymes and songs are about darker things than they sound, like Ring Around the Rosy.
